No prescription needed to book
An ECG is non-invasive, so unlike an X-ray you do not need a doctor's note to have one taken at home. If you already have a prescription or a referral, keep it handy — it helps the Care Team, but it is not a condition of booking.

Do I need a prescription for an ECG at home?
No. An ECG only records your heart's own activity, so it can be booked without a doctor's note. Bring the prescription or referral to the call if you have one — it tells us what your doctor is looking for — but it is not required.
Does an ECG hurt? Is it safe?
It is painless and completely non-invasive. The technician sticks ten small electrodes to the skin of the chest, arms and legs, you lie still for a few minutes, and the machine reads the heart's electrical signal. Nothing is injected, nothing enters the body, and the machine does not deliver any current.
How long does the visit take?
Usually fifteen to twenty minutes door to door, and the recording itself is only a few minutes of that. Most of the time goes into positioning the patient comfortably and placing the electrodes correctly.
Will someone explain the result to me?
We deliver the ECG report — we do not diagnose over it. Cardiac findings need a doctor who knows the patient's history, so take the report to your treating doctor or cardiologist. If you do not have one, our Care Team can point you to a doctor-at-home visit instead.
Can I book this for my parent or a bedridden patient?
